(SAN DIEGO, April 3, 2024) – The San Diego Fire-Rescue Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Vice-Chair for its Board of Directors.

Marcela Escobar-Eck, the President/CEO of the Atlantis Group, will serve as the Board’s new Vice-Chair. She has over 30 years of service with local government agencies – most recently as Director of Development Services for the City of San Diego – until she founded the Atlantis Group, a land use and strategic planning consulting firm.

During her tenure with the City of San Diego and as Planning Director for the City of Carlsbad, she led several multi-year community engagement programs, including redeveloping the Naval Training Center and several other complex policy initiatives. She also designed and implemented several unique dialogue workshops between the City and various stakeholder groups, such as the development community, to build better relationships and resolve conflicts.

“I am privileged to become part of the respected Board of Directors at the San Diego Fire-Rescue Foundation,” said Escobar-Eck. “I look forward to collaborating with fellow board members and the organization’s leadership and actively contributing to its ongoing growth and success.”

“As our board Vice President, Marcela will serve a crucial role within the organization,” said Wendy Robinson, executive director of the San Diego Fire-Rescue Foundation. “Her background and skillset will provide valuable experience and insight into a successful organizational structure, helping all board members to contribute their expertise and drive initiatives forward to benefit the Foundation as a whole.”

“She will be a key representative for the Board and will be very successful in representing its interest and mission in various forums,” she added.

Ms. Escobar-Eck will serve a three-year term through 2027.
