ACADEMY SCHEDULE

Classes are scheduled to begin July 6, 2026
SCHEDULE:
Monday and Wednesday from 6:00 to 10:00 pm
Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
ACADEMY REQUIREMENTS
Required when applying:
- Completed application for admission:
- Proof of financial status
- *Proof of financial status is not required; however, priority will be given to individuals with demonstrated financial need.
- High school diploma or GED completed on or before May 11, 2026
- Valid driver’s license
Required prior to official admission:
- Attend mandatory orientation
- Pass Cal-JAC administered academic assessment
- Complete Cal-JAC Academy Physical Ability Review
- At least 18 years or older on or before May 11, 2026
- Pass a Department of Justice background check
- Pass a drug screening
- Proof of up-to-date vaccinations
- Up-to-date vaccinations [TB test (within the last 6 months), flu shot, MMR (2 doses in your lifetime), TDAP (within the past 10 years), Varicella (2 doses in your lifetime, or proof of immunity to chickenpox), Hep B (either a negative status screening or 3 doses in your lifetime); Note: Additional vaccinations may be required by partner fire departments or hospital]
The Cal-JAC Academy is provided through a generous grant from the San Diego Workforce Partnership and is hosted in partnership with the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
