The San Diego Fire-Rescue Foundation recently marked an important leadership transition as David Hanses was elected Board President/Chair and Colleen Windsor was elected Vice Chair. Together, they bring decades of experience in philanthropy, communications, governance, and community engagement to guide the Foundation as we continue expanding our support for the firefighters, lifeguards, and emergency personnel of the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to Christine Moore and Marcela Escobar for their outstanding leadership as Chair and Vice Chair. Their vision, dedication, and commitment helped strengthen the Foundation during a period of tremendous growth and positioned us for continued success.
While Christine has relocated to Portland after accepting an exciting new leadership opportunity with AT&T, Marcela will continue serving as a valued member of our Board of Directors. We are grateful for their lasting contributions and look forward to building on the strong foundation they helped create.
DAVID HANSES
Board President/Chair
David Hanses brings more than 30 years of nonprofit leadership and fundraising experience to his role as Board Chair. He currently serves as Executive Director of Development for the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego, where he leads philanthropic initiatives supporting world-renowned research and education.
Throughout his career, he has held senior leadership positions with organizations including La Jolla Playhouse, the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and Big Brothers Big Sisters.
His expertise in strategic philanthropy, governance, and board leadership will help guide the Foundation’s continued growth and impact.
COLLEEN WINDSOR
Vice-Chair
Colleen Windsor is an accomplished communications executive with extensive experience in public affairs, strategic communications, and crisis communications.
Her career includes leadership roles with the Orange County Fire Authority, North County Transit District, San Diego Gas & Electric, SANDAG, the City of San Diego, and KFMB-TV.
Colleen’s expertise in community engagement, public relations, and strategic partnerships will be invaluable as the Foundation continues to strengthen its outreach, build community support, and advance its mission of serving San Diego Fire-Rescue.
